| Suggestions for future get-togethers include visits to
Solair Recreation League in Connecticut and the Ledges
in Vermont.
The Moonstone Beach get-together is coming up in June.
Any other ideas?

| We had our outting at Moonstone today and it went very well.
We had ten people show up and everyone had a good time.
In the section of the beach to the west of the road, a channel was
washed away so that the pond and the ocean were now connected.
The high tide filled up the pond and the water poured back into
the ocean all day long. The water in the pond was much warmer than
the ocean so we were able to go into the water; the ocean
was VERY cold.
The day went so well that everyone agreed that we should get together
more often. We have planned on the next day already. Send mail
if you want to find out when this and all future announcements
for get-togethers at Moonstone.

163.5 | Ledges Trip Report - 7/15 | MLTVAX::FISHER | Building a faster pig | Mon Jul 17 1989 17:30 | 34 |
| Molly is too busy with work recently, so she asked me to write up the trip
report for her:
On Saturday, July 15, Molly and I and a group of noters from the NATURISM
file went to the Ledges in Wilmington, VT. We also had some mutual friends
there who were able to provide a speedboat for waterskiing. Since the boat
would be there, we decided to bring along our large yellow raft (actually an
aircraft escape slide) and use the boat to tow the raft from the parking
area to the Ledges.
We had a good turnout, with 16 noters showing up, despite cloudy skies that
cooled the air considerably. But by 1 o'clock or so, the clouds had blown
away, and we were treated to another beautiful sunny Vermont afternoon.
People didn't do a lot of waterskiing, but we got some good use from the raft,
which was large enough to accommodate more than a dozen people, and was much
softer than a towel on the rocks. At one point the State Police boat came by
to check out the raft. We were a little worried that maybe there was
something wrong with having it out there. But as it turns out - they were
just curious about what it was. Molly told them that it was an airplane
escape slide, and then joked about a 747 just having crashed in the lake and
sunk, leaving just the escape chute floating. The officer (who had a good
sense of humor), then said "And let me guess.... during the crash landing,
everyone's clothes must've been blown off!"
I missed the Moonstone trip, so this was my first time getting together with
folks from the notefile, and it was nice to be able to put some faces to the
names. I had a really good time, and I hope everyone else enjoyed themselves
too.
Many thanks to Molly for organizing the trip, and also to Ben and Shawn who
helped me put the raft away at the end of the day. I'm looking forward
to a Solair trip, and I'll hopefully see you there!

163.9 | Solair visit | CADSE::WONG | Le Chinois Fou | Mon Jul 31 1989 11:44 | 21 |
| The day for the Solair visit has been picked!
We're going to Solair in Connecticut on Sunday, August 13th.
Molly has offered to bring a barbecue grill for cooking burgers and hot dogs
and whatever. The easiest way to handle this is to have each person bring
what they want to cook and eat.
I called up Solair to find out what their gate fees for one-time visitors were.
The fee is $15 if you are a member of the Naturists or the ASA. It's $20 for
others. I realize that is kinda steep, but this is a chance for everyone
to visit a naturist campground if they haven't gone to one yet.
The place has a pond for swimming as well as courts for volleyball and tennis.
It would be ideal if we could get enough people for a volleyball game there.
There are enough trails for walking around the campground.
As usual, I'll take names and try to arrange for car pools. I'll send
directions to anyone who wants them.

| RE: .9
I assume no one went to Solair today, because we got the worst rain
in a long time.
Since that was so, I'd like to see if we could reschedule the visit
for September 9th or 10th. I would imagine that a trip to Solair
would be more comfortable than a trip to Moonstone since there are
trees at Solair to block the wind during that time of year. Let me
know if you would be interested in making a trip to Solair that
weekend.

Wrong! One nice thing about nuding is that rain dosn't get your
cloths wet.
All the people at Solair were commenting on how full the lake was,
the beach area was under water, and the road threatened with flooding
(it reminded me of Northen NSW just afer Easter this year).
The Hot Tub was hot, and the company pleasent. Though I did miss
all those deccies that were supposed to be comming.

Hope to see you there, but if not, I'll see you at Solair on the 9th.

| This has been announced to the regular people on my Moonstone.dis...
A bunch of us are going to make an outing trip to Solair Recreation
League in Connecticut this Saturday, September 9th. I expect to get
there myself around 9 am and I'm willing to pick people up along the
way if they need a ride.
Molly offered to bring a grill last time and I hope she'll keep the
offer open since the "kitchen" at Solair closes down after Labor Day;
otherwise, we'll have to fend for ourselves.
For more info, send mail.

163.16 | Solair, September 9, 1989 | CADSE::WONG | Le Chinois Fou | Sat Sep 09 1989 23:03 | 44 |
| Today was our outing to Solair in Connecticut. Ten people from
the notesfile showed up.
After the obligatory guided tour of the place, we staked out an area
on the beach, not that we spent all that much time there. Most of
us stayed at the volleyball court where there was a game constantly
being played. Turns out that Molly was a ringer with tons of
experience. The regulars at Solair were also quite good.
Nobody brought tennis rackets, which was just as well since the courts
were being used all the time.
The people at Solair were very nice; they talked to us and helped us
find each other once they knew that a bunch of us were meeting there.
They thought it was great that we had this notesfile and could talk
and meet for outings.
The kitchen was open after all (only on the weekends, until some time
in October). The people who congregated around the tennis courts had
a gas grill permanently by the courts that everyone could use. We
didn't even have to bother with the charcoal that Molly brought.
We (our group) were the wild people in the place. There were mostly
family types there when we got there and most everyone was very quiet.
We stood around in a group to talk and I guess we stood out a bit.
The place has gotten a bit more conservative since they had some legal
problems with their neighbors. They installed high complete fences
around the entrance area since they had some problems with visitors
early in the season. SOlair will allow singles visitors only on the
weekend now, unless accompanied by a Solair member.
If you visit Solair with the potential for joining, get membership in
the Naturist Society first. You'll recover half the Naturists
membership fee by paying lower gate fees during your introductory
visits.
I used to be a member at Solair so my opinion might be biased. Could
one of the other people from today's visit give your opinion of the
place, please?
Ben
PS: Molly, I like your new nickname. :-) :-) (ha-ha!!!!!!)

163.19 | Bare Back Packing | USWAV1::REID | | Fri Oct 27 1989 22:37 | 36 |
| Yep Bare Back packing! I am using note 130 as my soap box to tell
those intrested about my trips that I go on in the White Mountains
on New Hampshire. I started my SIG three seasons ago. I am also
a member of New England Naturists Association. I am the SIG leader
and have a news letter that goes from March to October. Any one
intrestes in receiving it only needs send 8 stamps and your address.
As far as Bare Back packing goes I have enough trail tents to
accomodate a crew of 14 people. I provide a liost of 26 items that
you would need. I set up the trips to accomodate the experience
level of the group. The goal is to have a good time! If those joining
me are not experienced we can set up a base camp and do a series
of day hikes. If people have experience or are in good shape we
can do three days of continious bare back packing. I have with
some who have joined me hiked 12 to 15 miles each day. Its geared
to the group. I only charge the cost of the trail food and require
those going with me to provide their food money a week in advance
to lock in their tent space and show their commetment. I buy the
food and we all meet at the Merrimack Hilton Hotel on Continental
Blvd in Merrimack. Its safer then MK1 or 2. We consolodate down
to a few cars and head north. If the trip is called because of rain
I will refund everyones money. I am not doing this for profit only
to find other hardy soles that are intrested in joining me on a
bare back packing trip.
Todate I have not encountered any problems in the three summers
I have been running this sig. We usually hike in a few yards before
stripping down so as not to cause a problem at the start of the
trip. We put away our cloths and dont use them again until the end
of the trip or if its cold at night. I also recomend Muskol 100%
deet (the emporers cloths) to keep off the bugs. Since this note
seems active and looking for naturist activities and I am looking
for intrested people who may want to try a trip I will drop a note
here to say HI.
By the way what other things do you all do? Possible my wife and
I could join you.

| Bare Back Packing an enjoyable experience for male and female.
I do not know how many women read this note but if there are single
or married women who do I would be very intrested in finding out
what intrest there might be from the female gender to go on a Bare
back packing trip. I know from experience that women can carry a
back pack as well as a man. Its just a function of yor physical
condition and how well you take care of your self. So may be some
of you would care to respond.
My wife would bare back pack if she did not have a physical disability
that prevents her from joining me its something she always wanted
to do. We do camp on occasion.

| I was talking with someone (or several people) about the possibility
of getting a bunch of people from the Naturist notesfile for a day trip
to Solair (near Sturbridge, MA). June 23rd came up as a possible day for
this outing. As far as I know, there are no major naturist trips on that
day (correct me if I'm wrong) so if anyone is interested in visiting
Solair this year with other naturist noters, please let me know. Actually,
it really doesn't matter if you let me know, but it would be nice to know
if anyone's going.
As usual, I will try to arrange carpools if people need them.

| Ben, Is the June 23 Solair visit still on? I am interested (i.e. Will
be going), and my girl friend will be visiting a nudist camp for the
first time. We are planning on camping there on Saturday night. If
there is anything social going on, we will stay in camp in the evening,
otherwise we will be going to the Plainfield Greyhound Park (clothed,
of course! ;-) We will be happy to have other DECnaturists join us!
The weather has been HOT here in the Northeast lately! Let's see a
good response.
(BTW, I have been going to Neil's Waterfall in Wilton, NH lately, and
the water has been beautifully comfortable - cooling, but not
freezing. I intend to stop by tonight after work, also. There have
been an average of 6 to 8 people there, most of them nude.)
See you at Solair!
