| From NENA _Sun Times_, Volume 52 (June/July 1988):
A National Nude Weekend Celebration will be held by NENA at
Moonstone Beach below the fences in front of Card Pond. This
annual event will be held on [Saturday] July 9th, with [Sunday]
July 10th as the rain date. We are hoping for a good turnout to
demonstrate our determination to continue the battle for the right
to use Moonstone Beach. Everyone is requested to bring food to
share with others. Tables will be set up in front of the fences.
Be sure to bring your own drinks [NO GLASS IS ALLOWED ON MOONSTONE
BEACH], and also trash bags for a beach clean-up following. ...
... It is imperative that no one go into the fenced off area if the
fences are still there in July (we hope they will be gone by then!)
since that must be considered Refuge property and any violation of
the fenced area could hurt our court case. Be sure to arrive early
for good parking. The town lot will be restricted to town
residents or cars with town parking stickers only on the weekends.
All others could park at Roy Carpenters and hike back, or at the
Matucuck Schoolhouse, which is a longer walk, but is the next
available parking. ...

Got sunburned at the Ledges! Ouch! I guess I waited a little too
long to put the suntan lotion on. You'd think that after two years
of doing this, I'd know better than that by now!!
Sunday at the Ledges, there was a guy who had been at the protest
at Moonstone on Saturday. He had a National Nude Weekend T-shirt.
It said:

| Went down to Moonstone for the whole weekend. The weather was
spectacular! It was pretty crowded on Saturday. The barbeque/picnic
was fun. Supposedly there were TV-people on the beach, but I didn't
see any (except for a print reporter interviewing Joe DiPippo the NENA
president).

| Soaking up sun between showers in my backyard. Need some pre-tanning
before the 3-weeks exposure to the Yugoslavian sun starting next
week.

| According to an article in our local newspaper, this week is
Nude Recreation Week
This week is not presidentially claimed however. ;-)
Monday July 3rd marked the beginning of Nude Recreation Week at the 200
nudist clubs and resorts in the United States and Canada which are a
part of the American Association for Nude Recreation and the Naturist
Society.
