I recently visted a nudist resort out in Calif. that requires all people to be nude at all times, weather permiting. This rule was was formed years ago because of problems with lookeloo single men. Well this 65 year old couple came visting ( ASA members ). And the man got undressed but the women did't. One of the club enforcers asked her to get undressed or leave, she replied that she had a medical problem that caused some kind of genital bleeding and she could't. The enforcer then told her to at lest take her shirt off. The woman replied that had she knowned that the club was nudist mandatory she would not have come, but did take her shirt off. Both I and a few other members were bothered by this calus treatment (the other members were single men like myself). Some of these men said they would never have gotten their girl friends to try nudism if they had to get undress the first time they visted a place where a person could get socially nude. Other members said they would be over run with single lookeloo men if the resort was clothing opt. I tried to explain that other resorts I have visted that were CO did not have this problem, but no one wanted to hear this from me. Myself I am a die hard nudist but I believe in a clothing opt. life style. So how do the other readers of this note file feel? Paul

73.1 | where did compassion go??! | GENRAL::KILGORE | The Desert Rat | Sun Jun 19 1988 18:53 | 27 |
I feel so sorry for this woman! And also feel outraged that there are not "exceptions" to their policies. Geez, there are days that I don't feel like getting undressed in front of people. I prefer the CO attitude...the amount of attire (or un-attire) you wish is up to you. Valley View Hot Springs in Colorado does not seem to have a problem with lookeeloo people (male or female)...at least I am not aware of it. I don't care to be in a situation that I don't have some control and that includes what I decide to wear or not wear in a nudist/CO environment. Most women in particular have a 'monthly' problem we have to put up with. And some women do not use tampons. I'm probably going to gross out a few people here... <has to do with the alternative to tampons...hit next unseen before it is too late...> Would you care to see a lady with a sanitary napkin plastered between her legs held in place with a napkin belt? Or a swimsuit bottom or shorts instead with the 'protection' concealed from view? I prefer the swimsuit bottom... My grandmother had cancer of the uterus and had bleeding 'down there' until she died. I think people can have compassion in special situations and I believe there **are** exceptions to all rules... But then if there really is a problem with the lookeeloos, I'm not sure how I would handle the problem. Judy

Each case should be evaluated for its own merits instead of having a general cover every situation. Not every clothed person at a nudist resort is a voyeur and it should not be assumed so. At Solair (Connecticut) the rule is: You must be nude in specific places, such as the sunbathing beac area, the sauna, the whirlpool/jacuzzi, etc... I've seen many people who had to wear clothes in those places because they had various reasons, such as sunburn. They were in the nudity-required places because they wanted to be with their friends and families, which is what social nudity is all about. B.

Dyer Woods in Foster RI has a nude-required rule at the beach, sauna and tub. It also has rules against dogs. So what do these have in common? Seeing eye dogs are allowed, clothes are also allowed when there is a medical reason. - gerry |
