64.3 | might try Antigua | SSDEVO::PEAKS::MCCOY | | Fri Aug 09 1991 10:05 | 38 |
| well now that you mention it...
I've been back from my vacation a couple of days now and have been
meaning to post something about where we stayed.
My wife and I spent 8 days in Antigua. Its in the British West Indies.
I wanted to post a note here because of the place we stayed at.
Although the island on the whole is, shall we say, conservative with
respect to clothing optional beaches, the Hawksbill Beach Resort where
we stayed sets aside one of its four beaches for nude sunbathing. The
nude beach does not have all the amenities (i.e. bar) that the main
beach has, but it is nice (they do have beach loungers), well kept and
has a sandy bottom in the water. It's also close with an easy access,
less than a minute walk from the main part of the resort. The closeness
though does not preclude it from being discretely private.
The Hawksbill is not what I'd call a naturalist resort. You can't go
strolling from your room to the beach au natural like you can at
Hedonism or Club Orient. It's also not the big "party" place (i.e. toga
parties, limbo contests, how many people can we get into a hot tub
events, etc.) which was nice for us. It is perfect for lying on the
beach. I personally read 2 Tom Clancy novels, 1 Agetha Cristie book and
completed numerious crosswords. The resort price also includes free use
of sunfish sailboats, windsurfers, peddle boats, and snorkling gear.
One note on the island itself, very friendy. Minimual beach vendor
activity and even that was low pressure and no hassel.
One more thing, you don't have to stay at the resort to use their
beach. We talked to a few people who were not staying at the Hawksbill
but drove over to use the nude beach. There are some villas a few
minutes drive from the resort that we plan to stay in next time we go
(alot less expensive!).
Let me know if you want any more info.

64.4 | Seeking St. Barts housemates | NOVA::WASSERMAN | Deb Wasserman, DTN 264-1863 | Tue Sep 24 1991 14:34 | 7 |
| My husband and I are planning a 10-day trip to St. Barts next May.
We're going to be renting a 2-bedroom villa (with a pool!), and are
looking for another couple to help offset the cost of the rental.
Naturists and non-naturists are welcome!
If anyone is interested in discussing this further, send me mail.

64.5 | More St. Barts trip info | NOVA::WASSERMAN | Deb Wasserman, DTN 264-1863 | Wed Sep 25 1991 10:28 | 37 |
| Here's more information about .-1:
The description of the house is as follows:
2 bedroom, 2 bath unique villa with wonderful view. Pool with
deck. Deck off of upstairs bedroom. Bedrooms on separate
levels. Charming and private.
I have seen snapshots of the house, grounds and view. It sounds and
looks wonderful. This will be our first trip to St. Barts so I haven't
seen the villa in person.
The house, pool, and decks will be clothing optional. We plan to
spend days at the beach and to cook our own breakfasts and some
dinners. The island has wonderful restaurants, but our budget will
allow us to eat out only part of the time.
We plan to rent a car for the duration of our stay. Every indication
is that a car is essential for getting around the island. We have no
objection to splitting the use and cost of the car, but it may be the
case that the logistics of getting around make that impractical. If it
can be worked out we're open to it.
Kids are OK, too. We were originally going to bring our (will be 2.5-year
old) son but decided to make this a 'just us' trip. However, kids were
OK in this particular villa (not always the case).
You do not need to stay for the entire 10 days. We would like a
minimum commitment of 7 nights, however.
The cost of air fare depends upon your location. From NYC to SXM
(St. Martin) a non-refundable fare of $384 is in effect now. The
cost of the connection to St. Barth is about $70. Car rental seems
to run about $200/wk.
If interested, please send mail. I would be happy to discuss the
cost of the villa and answer any questions you might have.
