Hi,
I have very serious customer in Malaysia running SAP R3 3.0C on 
informix 7.12UC1X8. The machine is 4100 5/400-2, 1GB mem.

Disk subsystem is SW500, HSZ40, BA350JA (3 units) with 4 x RZ29-VA for each.

THe problem is the database crashed 3 times for the last 2 weeks. As indicated
by uerf and online...log, it points to disk failure. OUr MCS enginner has 
the disks but the problem happened again. MCS engineer performed dianostic on
the disk and found no problem with the disks.  There is no particular pattern
asto which disks this will occur.

Since there are no other possibility i can think of, i suspect that one or two
chunks that exceeded the partition size allocated that had caused the 
informix overlapped the data onto the other partition towards the end of the
chunk. If possible please verify if this is the case and this can happen.

Overlaps can be detected by oncheck -ce or -pe

May be you have another problem. Are you running Dunix 4.0x? If so, have you set 
vm parameter new-wire-method = 0 ?
