I would only use a staple gun if you could get them at least
two inches long. The Screws that Arty uses of ARubacats are almost
three inches long. That's why his don't fall apart. The cats will
eventually pull out the staples and could hurt themselves.

We built ours four years ago this summer and none of the staples have
come out. Any piece of equipment whether home made or bought should be
regularly checked and repaired if need be.
