I've searched and can not find this, even though I think a note exists about the subject. A coworker of mine needs to know how to determine the sex of a newly born kitten. I thought a female looked like an upside down exclamation point under the tail, and a male like a question mark. Is this correct? If not how do you tell? Thanks, Laura

It seems to me someone told me that a female does look like an upside down exclamation point, and the male looks like a colon (:). Not absolutely positive, however. Marilyn | |||||

Well, a newborn is very difficult. The testicles need to drop down in order to visually see them if a boy...atleast that's what I believe. I've delivered many a kitten, and I personally could never tell until a few weeks later if not more. Ask your vet. Katy |
