Hi
Does anyone have any tips for introducing 2 old (12 and 11) male cats
to a 2 year old enormous German Shepherd?
The dog loves cats and constantly wants to play with them, the cats
however, have never had contact with dogs except being chased in the
street. To say that I don't think they will be very keen is probably
the understatement of the year.
It is the dogs' house so I will have to keep them shut in a bedroom
until they "forget" where they used to live - it's only about 300
metres away! It would probably have been a little easier if I were
introducing the dog into the cats house, unfortunately things are never
that simple.
Any hints etc to make this a little easier would be greatly
appreciated. Alternatively, do any of the UK feliners know of anyone
with a large farm, say, that would adopt my two old timers but so they
could enjoy what time they have left?

One thing I know is that both cats and dogs need a "safe" place of
their own. I have three cats, and I've scattered several boxes around
the house. That way, if someone doesn't want to be bothered, she
climbs in a box. With a dog, the boxes would have to be kind of deep,
so it can't just stick its head in and poke the cats.
