Just a quick warning about rabies in the San Francisco Bay Area. If you've caught the news recently you've heard about the man who died of rabies and the child who was bitten by rabid bat. Looks like rabies reports may be on the rise around here. Time to be sure everyone is current on their vaccinations. Part of the reason I'm bringing this up is that I discovered that Onyx's vaccinations had not been done since October 93. I couldn't believe it. I'd had him into the vet for a variety of things since then but apparently no one realized he hadn't been vaccinated in all those times. I made an appointment for him on 6/10. Wouldn't you know it, he got outside the weekend before and was possibly out overnight. I still haven't figured out how or when he got out. It was shortly after that the rabies reports started showing up on the news. Nervous...me...oh yeah! So, now he's current and none the worse for wear (apparently). Whew! Jan

Thanks for the notice, Jan. (We keep Molly indoors, but we're aunts to some outdoor cats, so we'll want to tell their moms...) MKV

Jan, After the first year, most vaccines are 3 years. If an animal is suspected of being in touch, bitten or scratched by a rabid animal the procedure is to revaccinate immedieately. Karen keeping claws crossed!

>(We keep Molly indoors, but we're aunts to some outdoor cats, so we'll >want to tell their moms...) I don't know whether I'm reading this correctly or not, but indoor kitties are not entirely safe since rodents, etc. can get in. I caught the same news reports and our mob is going in on time this year. We're normally within a month or so and they stay inside always, but.... SQ
