Just recently my cousin informed us that she is having another baby.. She
comes to visit every Sunday with her son now.. Since she has told us
of her upcoming arrival Shilo must greet her... My cousin has been
coming to my house on Sundays since I can't remember... Shilo didn't
want to have anything to do with her or her son, (who is 3), but since
she told us that she is having baby he jumps on the back of the couch
were she is sitting.. He needs to put his nose on hers.. Once he has
done this he leaves. It is almost like he is checking to see if she is
okay and when he sees that she is he leaves.
I think my daugther read it in the Cat Fancy that the know when there
is a new arrival coming...

| Well, many of us believe cats can read auras; it certainly seemed
apparent when I was pregnant that my cat could see the new aura within!
She had never been a lap cat (always a beside-the-lap cat) but became
one for the pregnancy. And this was well before any kicks were
apparent, which for me was 16 weeks.

| Don't know about pregnancy, but one of my cats (Tigger) knew
which knee (left) I had just had arthoscopic surgery on -- he would wake
me up by putting his front paws on the injured knee and then resting
his weight on it. It woke me up all right. He never did it to
my right leg, or after the knee recovered.
As Tigger is a good 14 lbs, it's a good job I've had my family and
she's large enough to take care of herself. (Actually, she has her
own cat problems. Christopher has just had his first Spring abcess.
She's $94 poorer today.)

| Cats know everything you are saying and doing. The only problem is they
translate everything into catspeak. My girlfriend and I are splitting
up and my cat Q.D. is spending an unusual amount of time on my
girlfriends lap. Never assume your cat doesn't know whats going on
around them.

| A friend of mine who is due to have her baby May 5th, said just
recently her cat has taken to laying on or against her belly. The cat
didn't ever lay with her only her husband before she got pregnant.
Let's face it.....Cats know everything thats going on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| It's funny that someone mentioned that their cat would have nothing to
do with a "male" pregnancy (no offense meant). I found with T, when I
was pregnant with my daughter, she was all over me; constantly jumping
from the floor into my arms and perching on my belly. She used to rub
my belly and puuuurrr non stop. When I became pregnant with my son
less than 3 years later, T would have nothing to do with 'the belly'.
There is absolutly NO doubt in my mind that cats are very sensitive to
these kinds of things, they are psychic! ;)
Oh well, my $0.02 worth...

| Pregnancy aside, I'm convinced (at least in our house) that
the cats sense the difference in the sexes and I put it down
to hormones.
The male cat, Max, clings to me, while the female cat, Daisy,
is my husband's. They are siblings, litter-mates who we got at
the same time, so they've been in the house the exact same
length of time and they each took to the human of the opposite
sex. (We didn't play favorites with one or the other).
Hormones...that's what I figure. What else could it be?!

| Arn't cats the best! Last year at this time I was pregnant with my
first (only) baby. At the time we had 4 cats (spike, weedles, Ceasar,
and Calvin). All of the cats were extremely affectionate during my
pregnancy especially Ceasar he would constantly sit in my lap wrapping
himself around my belly, resting his head on the top of it. My husband
kept joking that maybe he (ceaser) thinks he is the father! Now that
my son has arrived Ceasar wants nothing to do with him, but is still
the favorite lap cat minus the baby belly.
