831.0. "caught between a rock and a hard place..." by SX4GTO::WANNOOR () Wed Nov 16 1994 22:36
well, i think the kind noters in FELINE will understand and sympathize
(maybe?) over my story...
I live on a sailboat which is en-route to Mexico. I'll join it next
weekend for a 2 weeks' vacation (remains to be seen if indeed it is one).
The issue in which I lost out is about Wellington aka Wellie, my
cat/son of 2 years. Since the whole trip takes 7 weeks and because I
would not be on-board the whole time (not enough vacation hrs) to take
care of Wellie, plus the quarantine in Mexico, Wellie is not on-board.
He is staying at an acquiantance's for which I am grateful, but I am
have very limited visitation! and Wellie slept with me every night!
In fact, I just came "home" after visiting him for an hour. She's
really taking good care of him, but it's not the same.
While the boat is away, I am living in our family business office at
the marina. So the initial plan was for me to stay here WITH Wellie.
That was dashed because our sales associate is allergic to cats! So
here I am, still in town, but with no Wellie for comfort and company!
Now the friend informs me that her sister, with a 2 yr-old and an infant,
is coming to visit and stay for a week. I think it will be when I'm in
town after returning from Mex and before I leave again to crew the boat
back to SF from S. Diego (with me so far?!)
So what do I do with Wellie then. The friend is concerned that Wellie may
hurt the 2 yr old, which he might if he's bullied. I hate to lock him
in a cage, even the so-called spacious 4'X4' in a pet B&B!
I guess I ought to be thankful anyway. Well, thanks for listening.
