| Andrea,
There are several on the market. Some will automatically prompt you
(but you have to have the darned thing turned on!). Others, it is up
to you to check the calendar. In general, the ones that I have looked
at and have, are geared more towards running pedigrees and that falls
under part of the breeding program. Not a major factor in the choosing
of a program.
I have CAtrax, a working demo of Larry Ritters compuped and CATS.
If you ever want to see them, give me a call.

| Hi Karen,
I was looking more for something that's either free or low-priced,
as we're kind of poor with all of our crew ;^) ...

792.3 | How do you do it??? | USCTR1::MERRITT_S | | Tue Aug 16 1994 06:59 | 26 |
| This brings up a good topic. How do people with multiple
cats keep track of their cat records, vaccines etc??? I'd like
to find an easier way....
I get a receipt from the vet which explains what cat, what was done,
and what the cost is. I keep these in a file. Right now I just keep
them in one HUGE file..but I'm wondering if it might be worth making a
file per cat. (but yet I have receipts that have more then one cat
on it). I also keep a chart for vaccines which looks similar to
this:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
CATS NAME FELUK FIV BOOSTER FELUK RABIES
TEST TEST VACCINE VACCINE VACCINE
-----------------------------------------------------------------
POCO NEG 7/93 NEG 7/93 7/93 7/93 7/93
6/94 6/94 6/94
BARKLEY NEG 6/94 NEG 6/94 6/94 6/94 6/94
This chart is nice because you can see who's do for what
shots...in a glance!!!

792.6 | Keeping Track the easy way! | LJSRV1::MARX | | Wed Aug 17 1994 14:07 | 8 |
| I have seven cats and keep all the receipts in one place. When someone
is due for boosters or whatever, my veterinarian's computer kicks out a
card that is sent to me with dates of last shots. This way, I just
make sure to make an appointment to correspond with the dates of the
last shots. It's worked well for me.

792.7 | I send the vet's computer cards~! | TPSYS::HILBERT | | Tue Aug 23 1994 10:03 | 12 |
| Hi,
I have two cats and the vet that I take them to sends me a card when
it's time for their shots or whatever. This works well with me also!
Check with your vet to see if they would be willing to provide this
service to you.
Good Luck!

| My vet will send a card telling me when it's time for the shots...
but since I have 12 cats and they will all be due for their shots
between the June - Aug time frame...I like advance warning so I
can plan about 4-5 vet trips!!!!
As well as...I just like to keep all my own records, so I know who
was dewormed, how long one has been on Fluids, when was the last time
one got sick, when were they tested etc!!

| Yes, I have the manual system, but it can easily get out of hand,
especially when I'm dealing with different species (cats, rabbits,
chickens, etc.) and with animals that we never take to the vets
(chickens and other poultry).
I was hoping to computerize this stuff, especially since I have a
nice shiny new PC here at work (and this would be incentive to save for
one at home ;^) ).

| Sandy,
We keep separate files on each of our cats (only three) and I think
with twelve it would simplify things to have individual files. For the
bills with multiple cats on one, you could either make copies or ask
the vet for multiple copies, then highlight the information on the
particular cat and place it in their folder. Having everything on
computer is a great idea if that's an option.
But Sandy, I just doubt that you need any advice in this area - after
adding Cleo to our household, I often think of you in the morning, and
wonder how in the world you do it - you must be the most organized
woman *in the world*. :-)

| Actually I'm pretty organized when it comes to scooping, feeding,
grooming...but as far as my filing system goes I'm not real
organized at all!!!!
So you think of me in the AM...you laugh!!! I'm up at 5:00AM,
it only takes me 30 minutes to get ready...BUT yet I never leave
the house before 7:00!!!!! Then we get home at 6:00, we don't eat
until 9:00, and I fall asleep at 10:00!!!! GUESS what I do
inbetween...cat stuff!!!! I never realized the work we do until we
went away for a few days and I had to leave detail instructions for
my sister. Well after 3 full pages I re-read it and said "holly cow..
I do this EVERYDAY!!! Thank god I love them...and thank god I have
Ernie who helps!!!
