| Don't give up hope.......cats can be truly amazing! Many kitty
prayers coming your way.
When Ziggy was at the vet he also was on the drip..and the sight
of him just laying there with a needle in him was awful and the
sound of the machine beeping was nerve wracking.....but he pulled
through and is still going VERY strong!
An infection can take it's toll on a kitty...but hopefully they
can get it under control and you will see your kitty start the
recovery process.
Hugs to you...and please keep us posted!

| Sooz,
Hope Sasha does just fine. Sabrina had an infected liver 13 years ago now,
and the vet said she's never make it. I wasn't about to give up, and with lots
of TLC, she's happy and healthy still!!!
Good luck!

| Sooz,
Having just gone through a severe liver infection in my cat 2 weeks
ago, I can assure you that cats can and do come back from being at
death's door. You should definitely not feel guilty about going to the
vet too late, my cat had been vomiting yellow stuff (which I now know
was bilrubin), was lethargic and not eating much but I didn't take her
to the vet until she was as yellow as a banana! My vet assured me that
cat's are extremely good at hiding their illnesses.
I agree, cats look pathetic when they are hooked up to an IV but once
they get re-hydrated, they are like new kitties! My cat is also older
(don't know exactly how old), she is severely anemic and very small,
yet she responded miraculously to antibiotics and penicillin.
While all of this was happening to my cat, I felt pretty powerless, so
I spent a lot of time at the Animal Hospital, holding Wokkie, giving
her her medicine and forcing her to eat. For me, to know that I did
all I could to make her comfortable and to try to save her made me feel
better and got me through that stressful time.
Paws crossed for Sasha!

| Sooz,
I am sure they will be able to giver her the proper antibiotics. There
are some great new ones out there. As others have stated, once a cat
has had fluids they can come back from near dead. It contains lots of
good stuff (electrolytes and such). Once a cat starts to feel a little
better it is no time before they are doing well again.
Perhaps she may need a slight change in diet to be easier on her tummy.
A good hairball remedy (or trusty vaseline) can help too.
Keep us posted!

| Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you! She seems to be OK!!!!!!
I was worried sick yesterday and they didn't have the report back until
6:30pm so a phone call was useless. I was on the verge of tears
expecting the worse but he said she was doing quite well, the infection
hasn't reached the liver. The infection was cause by an allergic
reaction to preservatives so a diet change is in order. He did give me
stuff to see her through the next few days. She came home with me even
though he was a bit hesitant because she would be alone, but he
realised it would be that way until the end of the week. So 4 tablets
a day and back in 10 days.
Needless to say I was pleased as punch to have her back! Cho Cho
wasn't, she hissed at her alot. But ended up trying to lick the vet
smell of of her and when I went out to the living room in the middle of
the night there were curled up together as normal.
Sasha sat on me all evening and slept real heavily, let her face fall.
Oh it's so good to have her back!
Thanks for your well wishes!! They worked!!
