| I would check in pet stores or pet catalogs. I recenlty bought
one which is called a Cat Napper and the platform sits on the window
sill (with Velcro...so it might wreck the sill) and has brackets
holding it against the wall. It seems pretty sturdy, the cats love
it, and I believe you could open/close any type of window with it!!
I think I spent about $29.00 for mine...

769.2 | I bought my cat napper at Caldor's | MARLIN::AIKEY | | Wed Jun 15 1994 10:53 | 17 |
| Hi!
I too bought one of the cat nappers. My window opens out. There is a
crank for each side to open it. I bought my cat napper at Caldor's.
There is only one problem with it. It does velcro to the window, but
if your cat is hefty or runs and jumps on it, it will come down. Shilo
is still a kitten at 11 pounds and has taken his down already.. We
really don't want to have to nail it in but it looks like we have no
other way..
Good luck!!

I bought one at a pet store on rt 9 in Shrewsbury. I think the name is
Noah's Ark, it's in a mini-mall somewhat across the street from
Spagg's. It has two L-brackets which slip in between the window and
frame. Very well made.
I also have a canopy style bought at the pet store heading east on rt.
9 across from Sears/Filene's mall. Unfortunately it has velcro but I
ended up screwing into the frame. No way would the velcro hold 2 cats
fighting for sleeping rights!

769.5 | velcro fell down almost immediately | 3D::RICHARDSON | | Wed Jun 15 1994 12:07 | 12 |
| The velcro cat perch lasted about two days with my gang. These days, I
just open the windows and the cats happily sit on the sill. They don't
seem to care that it isn't flat. When I'm not around, though, I shut
all the windows almost all the way in case of thunderstorms, so the
cats have to find other places to watch the world go by from. HAving
them sit on the window silss is sometimes a bit hard hard on the
screens, too, though this year there doesn't happen to be a bird
nesting in the forsythia bush in the front, for the first time in
several years, so there isn't a real convenient and exciting target to
try to grab or pounce on through the screens!

| Navajo likes the windows sills, his favorite one comes with the back of
the couch so he has window all the time....although he was very mad at
the fan in his bedroom window the other nite :')

I've got one of the velcroed-to-the-sill platforms and it's worked
fabulously despite much aggressive abuse from multiple cats. Rocky and
Blueberry who together weigh in excess of 20 pounds routinely share it,
with Robin hanging off the side "playing" with their tails.
I think it's all a question of getting the support legs and velcro
all properly aligned. I have trouble detaching it myself!

769.8 | Thanks -- I'll try your suggestions | USABLE::VIEWS::Duncan | Anne Smith Duncan | Thu Jun 16 1994 06:40 | 9 |
| Thanks, all.
I'd seen the velcro ones, but with Sidney at 20# and LaNuit and 12#, I didn't think
it would work. I'll search them out at the recommended places and try one.
I had hoped that the new, wider window sills would be fine, but Sidney doesn' fit, and
LaNuit, with his balance problems, fits and falls off. So, they went back to tables and
such.
If there are pointers to cat stuff-catalogs, I'd appreciate that as well.

| Cat Nappers (the Velcro kind) are on sale for $19.00 this week at
Caldors. It's the cheapest I've seen - the usual price I've seen
at other stores is $29.00.
