We have recently moved and our cat "Rocky" seems to have had a personality change. He seems to cry and whine Alot more, he always has to be around us "which is ok" but he seem to have become a big baby. We moved from a four room apartment to a six room house with a full basement. He goes down the cellar and sits at the bottom of the stairs and cries. I can't figure out what he wants! Has anyone else experienced a change like this after moving? thanks, Brenda

Hi Brenda, I have moved several times and it has happened to me. The cats tend to get confused. They do not smell the same ole smells that they are used to. In time Rocky will be fine. Give him a couple of days. I think what he is trying to tell you when he goes down in the basement is that he is not familar with this and is kind of asking you what it is. Did you bring his favorite things?? Let him know that everything is ok. Make sure when you put down his food and water dish that you do not change the spot. Let him know that this is where they will be from now on... Good Luck!! *joyce & Shilo

He might also be a bit nervous because he has more room to roam... and nothing is familiar to him!!! I'm sure he'll adjust soon and will be racing back and forth from the cellar!!!

Brenda, I'm sure Rocky will not only adjust, but love his expanded territory after he gets used to it. Sounds like he has alot more room! There might also be animal scents around...did the previous owners have pets? This could be threatening to him. I can't wait to see the day I let Gypsy out of his room and he has a 7 room house with basement to explore, he'll be in seventh heaven!! Hugs, Laura |
