Has anyone out there ever heard of (I think the spellling
is) a Singapura cat?
My brother mentioned he would like to get one. Does anyone
know where there may be some? He said they look like
Siamese with huge eyes.
Thanks,
- Liz

If I'm not mistaken (I'm sure someone will correct me if I am)
the breed is called Singapura (am I spelling that right?). I
have seen this breed and found them to be beautiful but I don't
really know anything about them.
If there are no objections, after we get confirmation on the exact
name/spelling of the breed, I'll fix the title of the base note so
that it is spelled correctly.

Yes, it is Singapura. I've seen them and they are absolutely
beautiful. I know of one breeder, but can't think of his name at the
moment. Check CATS magazine of CAT FANCY magazine. There's usually a
breeder list in the back. You'll probably find something there.

YES, THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL. I have seen a couple on a cat, tear off
desk calendar. By the flat green color eyes, the very long limbs, I
believe my Christopher is half Singapura and half domestic tiger. If
that's the case, they have beautiful personalities as well. I too
would love to have a pure bread one.

586.5 | a singapura owns me | FSHWRF::DEFILIPPO | | Tue Aug 10 1993 14:57 | 14 |
| Hi Folks, This is my first entry in any notes file so please bear with
me. My little angel is a singapura I have a breeder in Maine who will
deliver anywhere, she is very careful to sell them to only good homes.
If there is any type of problem like if the landlord does not allow
pets etc she will take the kitten back rather then have it go to a bad
home. I do not have her business card with me, I will bring it in
tomorrow and post it in notes. If you would like any more information
send me mail at fshwrf::defilippo.
You will be very happy if you get one, they are so loveable.
thanks,
Anna Marie

| I think the most endearing trait about the Singapura are those eyes.
I've called them "Doe" eyes. They're VERY big. Almost oversized for
the tiny little faces. Like the eyes of a doe.
so beautiful!

586.7 | I think I remember these now! | STUDIO::COLAIANNI | I have PMS and a handgun ;-) | Wed Aug 11 1993 05:55 | 16 |
| Are these the cats that stay pretty little and NEVER grow into their
eyes? I absolutely fell in love with one of these at a cat show. She
was so tiny, (it was her last show in kitten class, or was it her first
show as an adult? DAH!) The lady said she would get a little bigger,
but not much. Was this right?
I agree those eyes are a killer! ;-)
Anyway, I was also pleased to see she had a kitty afghan from the Pat
Brody Shelter that it just happens that I had made! ;-)
These kitties are just too adorable for words!
Love,
Yonee

586.8 | address of breeder | FSHWRF::DEFILIPPO | | Wed Aug 11 1993 06:43 | 25 |
| Yes, these are the cats that remain small, my vet told me there nature
is to not grow very big because they were orignally considered to be
evil spirits and people would kill them, so they would hide in the
sewers to save there lives so the breed is a small because they did not
have much room to live. As promised in note 586.5 I am posting my
breeders name and address. If you contact her mention that KINKI's
mom recommened her because she is very careful who her cats go to.
She has both show and noshow singapuras for sale.
My little fellow is a nonshow cat, he got his name because he was born
with a little kink in his tail.
the name and address is:

586.10 | There are waiting lists.... | POWDML::KAREN | | Mon Sep 20 1993 11:02 | 7 |
| I have met Susan and she is a very nice person. There is also a
breeder who lives in Boston, Tord Svenson. He is extremely active with
the breed and has some direct imports.
The cats are of a pale cool beige color that is a ticked pattern. 4-5
pounds for an adult is not unheard of.
