As the old saying goes...."curiosity killed the cat"!! My guess
is that Lula feels pretty safe being inside but if she was to
meet up with the stray kitty there probably would be some hissing
and spitting going on!!
My cats LOVE to watch all the neighborhood strays...especially if
there is a cat fight outside...my crew all try to squeeze in one
window to see what is going on and all their tails are wagging like
crazy and funny noises come out of their mouths!! They normally
start a fight inside because I think they get so excited!!

534.2 | Not too really strange from their view.. | POWDML::MCDONOUGH | | Thu May 06 1993 11:17 | 14 |
| I think you have to determine whether that tail motion is really
"wagging", or it it more like "whipping"!! My gitls sometimes sit in
the window perusing the yard outside, and not and then a bird gets
tooooo close....ant the tail-whipping begins, the strange little
'mwemewmermurmumam' sounds begin to emanate... And I KNOW that nothing
but kitty obscenities are being voiced....(They THINK I can't tell when
they are cussing, but I know!!)
I get the impression that there is pure frustration in the fact that
the bird is "there", the cats are "here" and they KNOW they can't get
"there"...

| These obscenities, also happen out of doors! My littel Feendoonie will
crouch down otside when she sees a bird, but STILL makes all those
silly noises! Like the birds can't hear them, right? ;-) Go figure!
Maybe she knows she'll never get them? 8-)

| Yup, Kyra does that too. We just call it "Kitty chatter". Like she's
talking to the birds as if to say, "come here birdie, I've got
something for you!"
Hey yonne, that p-name looks kinda familiar! (-:

534.6 | kitty bird calls | CADSYS::HECTOR::RICHARDSON | | Fri May 07 1993 10:19 | 12 |
| Nebula, my half-Siamese, loves to sit in the window and do bird calls
whenever she sees a bird outside. Her vocalizations aren't going to
fool any birds that I know of, but she sure sounds funny to me! Last
year, and earlier this spring, there were a pair of cardinals that
nested in the forsythia bush right outside that window. Nebula and the
mother cardinal had some great arguments through the window screen! I
guess the bird knew Neb couldn't get out - she made even more noise
than the cat did! JFCL is much quieter when she is watching the
wildlife. She'll thrash her tail, but she usually doesn't make any
noise - she is a very quiet kitty.

| Well...Lula has her birdie watching chatter too. Linus and she both do
the same things. That's really funny. But, when the stray comes by,
it's more of a mew type sound. She's really cute about it anyway. I
wish I could let them out sometimes...but the risks just don't seem
worth it to me. Funny, the other kitty doesn't talk back...but she
keeps coming back though to look in the window.
Thanx,

| Rusty does the yawn noise thing......
The Korats "chatter" at the birds, Pepper "squeaks" at them,
Rusty gives a sort of cut off meow, and Nique catches and eats
them! (8 or ):
They also react to squirrels this way.......

| My Lightning did that when she first saw Beauty (a feral cat at the
time). I think she was madly *in love* with him. She would go racing
from one window to another to be able to see him as he went by. She
would be *calling* all the time. If you happened to be in her way as
she raced to another window, look out....
DejaVu did a similar act when she saw another male cat with similar
coloring as hers. At the time she was the only tri-color kitty with
2 single-color kittys. I guess she was saying *Look, I'm really not
a strange kitty. There's another one like me out there.*
Beauty is now inside our house and Lightning could care less. Guess
the chase is better than the catch......

534.10 | Hey !!! what's in my plate ????????? | KAZAN::PELIKS | Open stuff inside | Wed Jul 21 1993 08:24 | 13 |
| Yes, my cat doesn't come from north Africa, or from any other arabic
country in the world : our kitten (around 2 months old) comes from the
roofs of Paris.
Well, last Friday we gave to the kitten a plate of very good couscous
(the same we had to dinner). You know what ? instead of eating this
delicious couscous, made by my wife, the kitten began to paw the couscous
and finally she sat in the middle of her plate !
Obviously, it was a plate of couscous, everybody else had understood that
except the kitten. What's in her head ???? :-)
