529.1 | Worm, or maybe, Ca Ca Bum? | STUDIO::COLAIANNI | I think, therefore I think I am | Fri Apr 16 1993 07:37 | 12 |
| I might suspect worms. There are worms that some medications don't
touch. You might need a specific med, for a specific worm.
Also, when I see my cat doing that, it usually means she has a Ca Ca
bum, and I need to help her out and clean her up. ;-) Is your kitty
long hair or short? I have two long hair, and one short, and it's the
long hairs that usually have this problem in my house.
I would suggest taking a stool sample to the vet, just in case though.
No sense in taking a chance with your furface.

529.2 | anal glands? | RLAV::BARRETT | Is it safe? | Fri Apr 16 1993 07:51 | 9 |
| It could also be that her anal glands need to be expressed. Most cats
do this when they are defecating (or sometimes when stressed), but
occasionally the glands get full and the cat needs a squeeze in the
appropriate area. Definitely a job for the vet if you've never done it
before, but usually not a big deal.
Have her bowel movements been normal?

529.4 | mine does that too. | SHARE::MILES | | Sat May 01 1993 06:33 | 7 |
| It's probably nothing to worry. My Pookie does the same thing.
Brought her to the vet because they thought it might be worms, but
nothing was wrong. I have to admit, she does look funny doing that...
I get a good laugh. But it's a good thing to check out for worms...
good luck.
