| | Karen, I assume they've said it's very important to keep him hydrated?

| | You and Baby are in my thoughts, Karen. Bayril is a relatively new
antibiotic that a lot of vets are starting to use (not many bacteria
    are resistant to it yet).

Is Baby one of your Orientals?

We'll be thinking of you this weekend.

| 413.4 | He is still under the weather | ERLANG::FALLON | Karen Fallon "Moonsta Cattery" | Mon Oct 12 1992 06:02 | 16 |
| | Thanks Karen and Roberta, Yes I have kept him hydrate by mixing Fancy
Feast with water into a sort of soup. That way he drinks and eats! He
gets a half a Baytril twice a day. I forget what the dosage is, but it
is a purple color. He seemed to do okay all weekend up until last
nite. Then he would eat but not a lot at one time. He also seemed a
little dehydrated and felt warmer, but not 106! When he was eating I
did notice a funny sound at first it sounded like grating teeth, but
now that I think of it, it sounds like chewing gristle. Well, I looked
in his mouth yesterday and there is a big sore almost bitten off
section near his molar. It may be that he has bitten his tongue due to
a tooth problem. I will point this out to the vet today. Now, which
came first the illness or the tooth/tongue problem?! Keep your fingers
crossed when he sees the vet today. And I think your prayers helped
    him over the weekend.

| | Glad to hear Baby is doing a little better! Good news for a Monday
    morning.

One of the viruses... and I can't remember if it is calici or rhino,
causes mouth sores. This info from "The Book of the Cat". I read up
extensively on calici and rhino when I had a cat years back that was
prone to one URI after the next.

Keep us posted, Karen. You are still in my thoughts!

| | An abscessed tooth could certainly account for his behaviour. Our
    appendages are all crossed.

| | It still looks bad, the bloodwork should be back from Tufts today.
They put him on prednisone yesterday to make him more comfortable. His
kidneys even look a little bigger (if that is them!). He peed this
morning and drank water last nite. He also still grooms and has that
sparkle in his eyes though! If that wasn't there, I would definately
lose hope. He sleeps alone with me at nite and purrs and cries to me
as if to say "mom, I know, I am sick but it's okay" he will tell me
when it has gone too far. It just seems lately that things are not
going well everywhere between Baby and my grandmother, geesh!

On the up side, her cat Goldie is doing great! She seems pretty happy
with us. She also seems very curious about the kittens, always
sniffing them. It is good practice for the babes as when they go to
shows they won't get freaked out by those huge long hair things!!
Josette seems to have accepted Goldie as the resident long hair but
still hisses at the persians in show!! What a card!
Will let you know when we hear from the vet.
    Thanks,
    Karen, Jimmy and Baby
