| California is a big state--best specify which end of it you are trying
to get the cats escorted from.

| Does anyone know what happened to the base note here? If this is
no longer needed, I plan to delete it by the end of the day.

| Jan, before you delete it - does anyone know how much it costs to ship
a cat from the west to east coast? Tortellini wants to know! :^) :^)

| Just talked to Jo Ann and she tells me shipping a cat is running
$75-100.00 depending on the airline. Plus, you have to figure in
the cost of a carrier for her to travel in. Not exactly cheap but
the Li'l Tort is definitely worth it.
Jan
P.S. Darn, my boss just left for Boston today. I coulda shipped
her with him.

One of my "to do's" is to call for shipping charges for my cream boy
that is going to upstate NY. When Callie was shipped from Florida
to Boston it was $ 92.00. I have the feeling that it is going to
be $ 100+. I'll let you know.

| Does anyone have any upcoming business trips in California? Mary,
can't you go to a customer site out there? Make something up! Someone
crash a system with DECforms on it, please. :^) I want Tort but if
Bill freaks over another cat being added, I already know of a home for
her. Then again, Yonee thinks we can hide the tiny cat under Chubs.
Bill will never have to know. :^0

| Cheryl,
Unfortunately, you told Bill I said to hide a kitten under Chubs, and
now he'll be checking under there for sure! ;-)
I don't understand why he thinks I'm a bit off! ;-)

| Mary Tamir sent this to me via mail. I just had to post it cause it
gave me the biggest chuckle ever!!!
"I can just see it now.....you change his plane reservations and have
him paged in San Francisco.....Mr. Rawden, Mr. Bill Rawden, please pick
up a red courtesy cat for a message....Mr. Bill Rawden...."

| Well, I guess this note is gonna stay where it is since we may need
to do exactly what the title says...find a transport for the little
torti baby. Darn I wish I had known before my boss left to catch
his plane this morning. He was going to Boston.

From SFO to Albany on United is $ 66.00 + tax. The rate is dependent
upon the size of the carrier. I am heading East for Thanksgiving
(departing 11/21) but am tentatively planning to have the Bales with me
to "do Brooklyn". If that changes I will post it here.

| What would be ideal is if the airlines had another pricing war. Then
we could go to Carmel for a long weekend to celebrate our first
anniversary in October and as a surprise gift, Tortellini could be
presented to Bill. Gee, maybe I'll get a divorce for my anniversary?
:^)
Bill called at 3:43am and during the middle of the brief conversation I
mumbled "there's a little red kitty in California that desperately
needs a home" and he said the time on the telephone card was about to
run out. We exchanged a few more blips of conversation and the phone
disconnected but I do know he heard the words "kitty....need....home"
and I didn't hear any word that resembled "NO!". {big smirk}

| Jan, how far are you from Mountainview? I may know someone going out
there for a 3 week business trip in the near future. Only problem is
he thinks I am crazy (and he's right) and said "why don't you get a cat
in New Hampshire? or better yet, why are you getting another cat?"
Some people just don't understand. :^(

| Cheryl,
I'm just minutes from Mt. View when I'm at work. Not that far from
home by freeway either. It's okay that your friend thinks you're
crazy...we really know exactly how crazy, right? ;-)
My mom decided last night that I am "screwy" for thinking of shipping
a kitty back east instead of finding a local home. I did ask her if
she had any leads on a local home and told her if not, then she
couldn't criticize cause I was doing the best I could.
Actually, there is one lady here who may be interested. She's offered
to bring in her polaroid camera so I can take a quick picture. I don't
really know how serious she is about this though. Are you totally
committed to adopting this Torti babe long distance? If you are, I'll
begin trying to redirect her interest to one of my other homeless waifs.

| Jan, if you know someone local, by all means feel free to send
Tortellini there. I was only suggesting adopting her cross country
because you said you were desperate.
Still, the offer stands, if you are stuck, send her my way. If I had
$100, I would say ship her to me tomorrow. My only problem is money,
hence my reason for trying to work out something with having a friend
pick her up. She sounds like the sweet little kitty that I want to
curl up with me and follow me around aimlessly. Chubs and Zelda
insist on chumming with my husband all the time. I want a cat that
worships me for once so I can spoil it rotten and love it to pieces.

| Cheryl,
I am still desperate. I'm to the point where I would feel better if
I brought everyone inside but I still don't have the room and I don't
know what to do. Ariel didn't come by last night and I'm praying he'll
be around tonight. I haven't gotten a solid commitment from anyone yet
and am still open to offers.
I think both Torti and Molly would be the kind of kitties you're
looking for. I played chase with Molly last night and she followed me
around up and down the sidewalk until the wee hours (well, midnight).
Torti curled up on a t-shirt I'd put in a cardboard box and when I
looked in on her she rubbed against my face and purred like an outboard
motor. It was sooo cute. Come on you guys, there must be someone out
there traveling soon. Now if I can just come up with airfare some
how...

| Jan, just a thought, but how about posting a note on west coast ads
classfied (THEBAY::ADS_WEST_COAST), or the san francisco notesfile
(THEBAY::SAN_FRANCISCO). There may be a cat lover traveler there
somewhere.
I transported my 2 cats via PDQ (small package delivery) by US Air. The
cost is $99 per cat from Upstate NY to L.A. I was told that if the cat
travels with a passenger, then the cost is considerably less (I think it
was under $50). Another thing is that the cat would need a health
certificate good for 2 weeks (?) in order for the airline to take it.

| I wrote the base not and no longer need it......but if someone else can
use it... ;^)
I escorted a cat sometime ago and I think the people paid something
like $35. This cat cat in the cabin with me, and was considered part
of my carryon luggage. To ship a cat period is like $100.
