Most women, when pregnant, crave different foods. Not me...I had to
have a siamese cat!! I never had even thought about one before. So 19
and 1/2 years ago Mr. Jinks (Jinxie) with his great crossed eyes came
home with us.
I'm sure he never thought of himself as a cat. No matter what I did,
he was there beside me...at mealtimes, at bedtime, when he would insist
on getting right under the covers with us, and yes, even in the
bathroom. He loved reading the newspaper with us. He was a quiet cat
as far as siamese cats go.
This is not meant to be a sad note. Instead I would rather celebrate
his life. He was such a joy to us. We were very priviledged to have
him in our lives for so long.
Over the past year his body weight dropped considerably. He was
supposed to be on special food and medication which he absolutely
hated. We made the decision to let him eat what he wanted and
eliminated the medication. Some days he just wanted baby food but at
least he was happy.
I could see him getting weaker over the past two weeks but he still
appeared to be comfortable and content just being held. One week ago
our two other cats started attacking him. Up until now they had
watched over him, sleeping next to him in the daytime and bathing him
when they thought it necessary. Jinxie also started sharing our
greyhounds bed with him in the daytime which is something he never did
before. Also, he kept pawing at the door asking to go out. (This cat
has not been out in years.) They were all, in their own way, telling
us it was time.
He's been gone five days now. He went very peacefully.

Jinxie sounds like a very special cat, and you and he had a very happy
and long life together. I had tears in my eyes as I read your note. I
hope your memories will bring you comfort.

What a heart warming tribute for a special friend. I too have a lump in
my throat and tears in my eyes. As long as you have your memories,
