| Yes, moth balls are dangerous to cats. The bird houses should be
on tall poles in the yard, sufficiently far away from nearby trees so
that cats can't leap onto the houses from the trees and on tall enough
poles so that cats can't reach the bird houses from the ground.

| Moth balls are poisonous to humans and animals. Ask your
neighbors to put the moth balls in nylon (old pantyhose
works great!) bags to keep the MB from being eatable....

| A can of pepper (red or black) sprinkled on the ground instead of
mothballs would be just as effective (and non-toxic). (Of course, the
ground would have to be re-peppered after rain.
