102.0. "Who's Who in American Pets" by AUKLET::MEIER (Hey, furball, who pays the mortgage here?) Mon Dec 23 1991 13:40
I just received mail from the Jeffrey Frank Daniels Company, inviting me to
nominate my pet to be in the 1991-1992 edition of "Who's Who in American Pets".
Of course, my first thought was "I thought pet was always pluralized" :-)
The flyer doesn't ask for money in advance, and there isn't a charge for
having your pet listed, although there is a $10 charge for having a photograph
included with your listing.
I have heard of similar "projects" for humans, and indeed one of the women
who started up the company got the idea from a Who's Who book that she was
listed in. That book cost $295 if you wanted to buy it. No mention is made of
the cost of the pet book. I assume the "catch" is that if you're going to have
your pet listed, you're going to WANT to buy the book.
There's also an article from the Philadelphia Inquirer included in the info
they sent.
I'm not interested in the book, as I have plenty of space to immortalize my
cats here in FELINE (we're so lucky!!), but I'm curious if anyone knows anything
about this book.
