Cowboy Junkies The Trinity Sessions BMG I'd heard a few pieces by Cowboy Junkies on the radio. On the outside of the disk package is a sticker which quotes Lou Reed as saying that their version of Sweet Jane is the the definitive version. Anyway, this is a real neat disk. There's some hiss on the opening tune, in a quiet vocal by Margo Timmins. The rest has the feel of being recorded in an empty barroom. They build a nice blend of styles that runs from blues and bluesy to country (steel guitar and all) to a reworking of ``Blue Moon'' in a tribute to Elvis. Four people in this band. Fine music and good sound. Again, there's some noise and the amps seem to be in the back of the room at times. It works well.

> The rest has the feel of being recorded in an empty barroom. Actually it was recorded in an empty church; hense the name -- The Trinity Sessions. I really like their version of "Sweet Jane". The singer actually works a melody into the song... I haven't heard other songs yet, but I'm looking forward to picking up the disk soon. R. | |||||

I just picked this up at Strawberries ($10.99 until Sunday). I *really* like this disk. Quiet, strong, and melodic. I would recommend it to anyone who likes their version of Sweet Jane. Three of the four members (including the singer) are sister and brothers. -Scott |
