I know that this could belong in a NEW AGE note but starting notes
on some of the various lables might be a good idea.
N A R A D A
This company specializes in the New Wave format, just as Windham
Hill does. They do not have as many artists as WH but there are
several albums/CDs in which several artists play. I discovered this
company when I picked up one of their samplers on sale last summer.
I agree with a note elsewhere that the price is too high but after
listening to the music, it was worth it.
Most of the music would be good for mood or relaxing enhancement
and I find this great CDs to listen to while drifting off to sleep.I
have purchased a number of CDs
AFTER THE RAIN - Michael Jones
Piano and some wind instrements. Very soothing. Slow songs.
Not a very impressive recording at times but well done otherwise.
THE WAITING - Peter Buffett
Electronic music that has been recorded to give you a wide open
feeling. Music has traditional sounding instrements throughout.
I highly reccommend this one, especially the title track. Listen
to this one on a good stereo with headphones, it adds to the enjoyment.
HIDDEN PATHWAYS - Bruce Mitchell
More electronic music and very different then above. Very light
music that has a very happy flavor to it. How can you get depressed
listioning to this??
VALLY IN THE CLOUDS - David Arkenstone
Also electronic. More of an airy type of CD, with an accent
on sound generators it seems. Also very good with headphones.
I have others and will post other mini reviews if anyone is
interested.

I've listened to all three Narada samplers - they're all wonderful.
#3 is my favorite.

"Amber", with David Darling on cello and Michael Jones on panio, is (to
my ears) a departure from the typical "yuppie Muzak". Although it's soft
and soothing, it's also real music.

Narada has a sampler that is an extended cd - 70+ minutes that covers
acoustic, fusion and mystique music from all 3 of their labels.
I bought it at Strawberries in Sudbury for $8.99 on sale. The
normal price is $10.99. It's a great cd and well worth the price.
