1447.0. "Any Liz Story fans out there?/" by BPOV02::MICHAUD (Think about software that thinks!) Tue Dec 27 1988 11:24

Are there any Liz Story fans out there? I thought that I would start
a note to stir up some conversation concerning her style. I have
everything from her and enjoy it very much. I have listened to the
likes of David Lanz, George Winston (boring, in my opinion), Michael
Jones (very repetative) etc... I feel that her music is composed from
a highly complex stream of emotions. As far as 'New Age' goes I would
rather listen to more of her than any other. Is anyone familiar with
Tim Story? Is this her brother, husband or father? Is the music similar
in style? I noticed today that the latest Liz Story disc 'Speechless'
is out and I will have that that one in my collection also. I haven't heard
one disc from her that I didn't like yet. Any comments?

Here is a list of what she has out now. Sorry, no numbers.

I have her CD "Solid Colors". It sure does sound a lot like George
Winston to me! Nonetheless, I have grown to like her more and more.

I have no Liz Story albums, but I did see her in concert recently
and was unimpressed. I thought her pieces started out OK but never
really went anywhere. It wasn't unpleasant, just sort of nondescript
and not interesting enough to warrant checking out an album.

The one piece she did which I really liked was her last one, a quick
tune she wrote for her father called "Teased Hair". Now that one
had some life to it. Has that one been recorded?

Teased Hair is on 'Part of Fortune'. I wished I had seen that concert.
Some of her pieces may sound similar to Winston's tunes but I think
she has a much more involved approach. Winston is a bit too relaxed
for my taste. I don't dislike all of his material though I enjoy
    Story much more.
