This morning I heard some very nice music by Ted Hawkins. Very much in
the style of Sam Cooke, his work has a simple and direct presence
that's quite impressive. The dj reported two albums from Rounder,
something like On the Boardwalk at Venice Beach and Happy Days. (I
heard this early while trying to feed the dogs, make the coffee, etc.)
Naturally, I'd just cleaned out my last copy of the Schwann catalogue,
so I couldn't check to see if any of Hawkins's material is on cd.
