Completly off the subject...
I'll be in Albuquerque and Colorado Springs next week. Is the
"Sound Warehouse" a good place. For instance, do they have some
of the best prices in the states? Any info would help.
Rick.

| Not necessarily the best prices (you really can't beat Noteworthy
for those) but probably the best selection in the area. (although,
like everything else, there are exceptions). I have bought at SW's
in both cities, as well as "CD Warehouse" ands "Circular Motions"
in Silicon Gulch. The prices all seem to ba about the same.

1410.3 | More in C. Springs | COMET::LEVETT | They're all a bunch of Baggums! | Mon Nov 28 1988 14:31 | 9 |
| Yes, in C. Springs Sound Warehouse has probably the best selection
with Independant Records geared more towards Pop/Rock though they
also have a pretty good (but not as large) selection of others.
The Prelude has mostly classical, jazz, new age, traditional/folk,
and ethnic music. They are a little higher in price but an unequalled
selection in these categories.

A 72 track Chuck Berry box set has just been released.

1410.5 | I think about $30 over LIST for separates.... | BETHE::LICEA_KANE | | Mon Nov 28 1988 20:32 | 14 |
| I saw a boxed set of all of the Beatles CDs at Newbury Comics. And,
for that matter, a boxed set of all of the Beatles LPs.
You'll pay more for them all together than you will for them all
separately, but what you get for the extra bucks is:
* A roll top CD storage unit, in black plastic.
(Similar thing for LPs.)
* A really neat book.
* A serial number.
Hey, if you've got a fanatic on your shopping list....

The Clapton "boxed set" is just that latest mega-release of his,
CROSSROADS. The boxed "gift sets" are all from Capitol. In addition
to the Beach Boys and the Beatles, I've seen one from the Band,
and one other that slips my mind at the moment.

| re .5 (I think)
About the Beatles CD set at Newbury's. If you take the actual cost
of all the CD's in the case you get about $75 short of what they
are charging for the thing. So you pay $75 for a plastic case to
keep them in.

| re: .8
That sounds about right. It was about $30.00 over list, but you
can get each of the Beatles CDs for a few dollars under list without
really trying.
When the first four CDs came out, there was also a limitted edition
box set that cost a good deal more than the four separates, but
you got a box, a really neat book, and a serial number.
Some people think these things are collectors items. Like I said,
for the fanatic.

The fouth disc is Obscurred. (I have the latest Noteworthy update
in front of me.) From what is written below from another note, it
looks like they threw in Dark Side.. to sell the set. The other
three are markdowns!
The four disc set is $32.36 at Noteworthy.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There has been a price drop in at least some of the Capitol/EMI
CDs. I've seen Meddle, Atom Heart Mother, More and Obscured by
Clouds at budget ($11 instead of $15) at a few stores. I would
bet that DSOTM is still full price, though....
