| A contact managed to get a D4 for $159.60, as the shop concerned (not
Lechemere's but nearby) had run out of D2's.
Thanks Jack!

| The new Highland Super Store, which opened today in Nashua in the new mall
next to the Greenridge Turkey Farm, sells the D2 for $168 and the salesman
gave a 5% discount bringing to $159.60. The computer showed it in stock.
I waited around for about 45 minutes while they couldn't find one and finally
an assistant manager substituted a D4 for no additional money. I figured they
just would have refunded the money.
I was fairly impressed with the place. They carry a large variety of
merchandise. I only looked carefully at the audio section. They carried
a wide variety of stuff, but I didn't notice any high end products. There
were a lot of different TVs and VCRs but I didn't take a close look. The
service was excellent. There were more salespeople than customers. The
salespeople must work on comission. They were very anxious to help.
They offer a 30 day return policy, 60 days for XMAS gifts. They also offer
30 day price protection and will meet any published sales prices from area
competitors.

from FEDERATED for $146.00. I thought that was a good deal but best
deal is the BEST.

| Can someone describe the D-2's basic features, like does it come
with an AC adapter, does it have a built-in rechargeable battery?
What kinds of programability are available? What is the difference
between the D-2 and the D-4 (or even the D-3)? Thanks!

D2 comes with an AC adapter. D2 can be operated from regular AA batteries.
I think you need 4 or 6. Compared to D3, D2 does not have a rechargeable
battery.
Programability .....mmmmm...not much ..You can play it in 3 modes.
They are 1,repeat and shuffle. 1 stands for repeating one selection
continuosly. But Sony gives you an option to hook up this CD
player to a wireless or wired remote controller. D3 did not have
this option. I think D3 is now obsolete..
D2 weighs less and more compact than D3. All Sony CD players come
with options (more bucks) to connect to car stereos either to a cigarrete
lighter or to a cassette player.
I know nothing about D4.

| re:.6,.7
The D-4 comes with a rechargeable battery pack that is supposed
to go for 4 hours on a full charge. It comes with the AC adaptor
too, of course. It has shuffle, A-B programming, and I think you
can program 16 tracks or something but I've never tried it on mine.
BJs has the D4 for $185. I use it in my car with the battery pack
and it works great, seldom skips.

| A-B is when you can arbritrarily mark a beginning and end and repeat
it.
It also has a search mode.
