1363.0. "Dr. Demento goes laser" by AKOV11::BOYAJIAN (That was Zen; this is Dao) Wed Oct 26 1988 23:52

Just what most of you have been waiting for, I'm sure, now
exists. THE GREAT NOVELTY CD, assembled by that meister of
    schlockmeisters, Dr. Demento.

Many of the cult classics you'd expect to be on this disc
are represented, such as "Star Trekkin'" by the Firm (no,
not *that* Firm) and "They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha Ha!"
by Napoleon IV (or whatever). There are also a few relatively
normal (relative to Dr. D's usual oeuvre, that is) numbers
such as Tom Lehrer's "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park" and
    Julie Brown's "Homecoming Queen's Got a Gun".

So how does it all sound on CD? Got me. I didn't buy it, for
    the following two reasons:

    (1) I haven't convinced myself that this is something I want to
pay full price ($14.99) for, though the inclusion of the Lehrer
song and Steve Martin's "King Tut" almost snagged me.

    (2) It also includes, not surprisingly, Barnes & Barnes' "Fish
Heads", and my player does not have a "program out" feature.

But does the CD include the B-side of "They're Coming to Take Me
Away.." so we can listen for Satanic messages?

For those who never saw it, the flip side of the single contained
the song backwards, and even the label was a mirror-image of the
A-side, including a reversed WB logo.

    "Monster Mash"?
