| Most players would require the use of adapter that fits around
the smaller disc. These are low cost plastic items, sort of like
the adapters used for playing 45rpm records on a conventional
turntable.

| I have found that some players are tempermental when you put in
a small cd with an adaptor, they sometimes skip all over the place.
But most work fine. I have found that I can play the small ones
in my drawer-type machine w/o an adaptor if I carefully place the
disc right in the center of the drawer.

| I've just got a Pioneer 5100, the disk tray has two levels of location,
so it can take 3 inch CD's direct. As stated in .2, the adaptor
is just to accurately centre the disk.

| Most CD players introduced in 1988 or later can accept the
mini CDs (CD3) directly (except for the cartridge changers.)
Others need an adapter. I have a couple of CD3s and play them
with the adapter with no problems. But they are a nuisance -
the adapters are tricky to install.

| One would imagine that the CD player makers would sell replacement drawers
with the CD3 depression in the middle. Or that they would sell some kind
of drawer component/addition/attachment that would make it easy to center
the CD3 in your old-style drawer (and keep it centered).
Does anything like this exist?

| If there is, I've never heard of one, nor seen any report of one
in Digital Audio. I imagine the manufacturers would rather you buy
a new player!
