1318.0. "Superman on CD" by PCLAN::LONG (Speed of lightning! Roar of thunder! UNDERBAR!) Fri Sep 02 1988 12:16

Does anyone know if the soundtrack to the first Superman movie is available on
CD? I haven't seen it anywhere.

Thanks

The Main Title is available on one of the Telarc Sampler Cds, number
three I think. These are made up of tracks from other releases,
so it must be on another LP, but probably a John Williams thing,
    not the complete soundtrack.

BTW, the final note is a ~20-second kettle drum crescendo that produces
the loudest bass response of anything I've heard.

The "Main Title" and "Love Theme" are available on a couple
	of CD's:

		Williams, John:
			Superman, Love Theme
				Philips 412.884-2 (C)
				Telarc CD-80106 (C)
			Superman, March
				Philips 412.884-2 (C)
				Philips 420.178-2 (C)
				Telarc CD-80094 (C)
				Telarc CD-80101 (C)

The "Love Theme" is the Lois Lane/Flying music. I haven't
seen the soundtrack itself available on CD.

For what it's worth, the "love theme" from "Superman" is the song "Can
you read my mind." There are probably versions of that done by the
usual crop of female vocalists (eg, Barbra Streisand, Maureen McGovern,
    etc.) on various cds.

I would like to see William's STAR WARS soundtrack on disk too.
It could fit on one disk. It's about 72 min. long

Continuing on this theme, I would like to see the "Jaws" soundtrack
(also composed/conducted by John Williams) on CD. I know the "Main
    Title" (i.e., "dun-dun, dun-dun, dun-dun, etc.") is on a movie hits
compilation CD, but I want the original soundtrack album.

The way I've been feeling lately, it sure was.

Some random reviewer cited the Star Wars soundtrack as "proof that
AAD discs can sound just as good as DDD discs."
