| This is a new live cd that is to benefit the Amnesty Organisation. The
domestic version should have 4 live tracks (born to run, tougher
than the rest, chimes of freedom (new song!!), and be true.
It was origianlly scheduled for release on August 23, but was pushed
out to Sept 6. It will be available then. I would look for it at
Rockit Records in south Nashua. If anyone has it, they do.

| Actually "Chimes of Freedom" is a 1963 Dylan song... but it's
certainly Springsteen's first (legitimate) recording of it.

| "Chimes of Freedom" was also performed by The Byrds although I dont
know if it was ever recorded on LP.

The Boston Globe had a short article about the EP in this morning's
edition. The reviewer gave it high marks.
It is supposed to be in the stores as of today.

It's on "The Byrds Greatest Hits" from 1967, along with, among others,
Mr. Tambourine Man, Mr. Spaceman, Eight Miles High and 5D.

Got the sucker today and it's great *if* you like Bruce. And even
if you do, don't buy it unless you *really* like him, the deal is
you get a Dylan cover, a live version of a B-side and a rethought
"Born to Run"......basically for serious fans only.
True to form, CBS who doesn't seem to know s**t from shinola provides
a plastic pouch for the disc, but you get *no* cover art or liner
notes, unlike evry other CD3 I've seen to date. F-minus for packaging.

| Speaking of which, can anyone tell me how to remove those CBS 3" CDs
from the plastic pouch without touching the binary side of the
disc? The fit of the pouch is so tight, the disk doesn't slide out -
you have to pull it!

You push the two edges of the pouch on either side of the opening
together, the mouth will then open up, and you can drop the CD3
into your other hand.

True springsteen fans unite!. There is yet another new EP avialable.
It just came into Rockit REcords in south Nashua yesterday. It is
an import 12" for $7.99. ALso for AMnesty benefit.
It contains Spare Parts (2 versions-1 live, 1 studio), Pink Caddilac
(studio) and of course Chimes of Freedom (live).
I could not tell if this verison of Chimes was cut like the 3"cd
was, there were not times or disclaimers listed.
If you want to complain to Columbia/CBS about there *wonderful*
packaging on the 3"cd's, they do have an 800 number listed on some
of the older 5"cd boxes. It's the one that asks if you want to
participate in a survey of cd owners. I'm waiting for them to call
me back so I can give them my 2cents worth.

The import cd of the new Spare Parts ep should be available at Rockit
Records the end of this week or beginning of next week.
No word if anything will be different on the cd vs the ep.
