1307.0. "Sweet Honey in the Rock" by NEWS::HAKKARAINEN (One organism, one vote) Thu Aug 25 1988 06:01

When, oh, when, will Sweet Honey in the Rock release a cd of their
own? I ask anew while listening to the Folkways, Tribute to Woody
Guthrie and Leadbelly disc. They have two tracks on the disc, each
as intense and joyful as we'd expect.

Because I no longer have a turntable, I have to rely on my local
community radio station to play Sweet Honey's music. The folks at
the radio station have always been obliging.

Sweet Honey in the Rock's music can be described as gospel-based.
It sounds like gospel, but the lyrics don't necessrily reflect
Christian themes. The themes are love and peace and justice and
stuff. All driven by tightly woven women's voices. Outstanding music.

    So when?

Flying Fish has released ```Breaths'', originally called ``We
All..Everyone of Us'' when on vinyl.

I've also seen a live disk from a Carnegie Hall performance in a
catalogue; have ordered it and am waiting the weeks until delivery.
