1303.1 | Pass on the tuner....it's bogus ! | VEEJAY::ECTOR | L.A...The Last Temptation of Gretzky | Thu Aug 18 1988 16:40 | 21 |

If this is true, then a word of caution. I have the DT-3, which
I lucked out getting for $117.00. It really is great for disc playing
as long as it sits pretty much untouched on a hard flat surface.
BUT, I'm not impressed at all with the AM/FM tuner. It's station
lock-in ability is almost nil, since the tuner section is ultra-small.
Only last nite, I ran out of discs I wanted to hear, so thought
I'd put on an FM station. Being inside an office building doesn't
help, but it's pickup/lock-on tuning ability is an exercise in
futility. Unless the DT-4 is a vast improvement, I'd just shine
it one & get a backup AM/FM mini player as a backup.

Al, do you mean the DT tuner is *worse* than the average Walkperson
tuners?
All of those that I've tried are pretty poor, mostly because the
headphone leads make such poor antennas.

1303.3 | D4 for $185 | ISTG::EVANS | Robert N. Evans DTN-291-8341 @DLB5-1/E2 | Fri Aug 19 1988 13:00 | 6 |

You may be able to save your self a trip to NH and save some money too. A few
weeks ago I saw the D4 for $185 at B.J.'s Warehouse on rte 9 in Westboro MA.
You need to show that you belong to DCU (cash machine card) to shop at Bj's.

1303.4 | **Is there a *worse* word than *much worse* ?? | VEEJAY::ECTOR | L.A...The Last Temptation of Gretzky | Fri Aug 19 1988 13:11 | 20 |

re .2
Much *worse* - part of the problem is the dial tuner, which gives
veritably no space between the stations (It's less than 1 inch from
one end of the selector to the other), so it's hard to lock on to
stations. I keep a Sanyo "walkman" AM/FM/Cassette at work, too and
it's dial tuner has 1 3/4 inch to move in. No lock-on problem there,
even in-doors with the headphone leads being used as antennae.
re -1
With that kind of a deal, I'd go for the D-4 and just buy a seperate
cheap "walkman" type tuner/cassette player for maximum flexibility
& quality listening.

1303.5 | DT-4 price help | GRAMPS::FORTIER | | Wed Nov 09 1988 06:19 | 8 |

Anybody know who's got the best price on the DT-4 this week.
I understand the trade-offs between the tuner problems, etc.
and still want a DT-4 for my own reasons. So now, I wonder if
anybody can help me out with a good price on one??? Does BJ's
carry the DT-4?

they had. A decent deal at $185.
