1281.0. "service manuals source" by TALLIS::STEWART () Fri Jul 22 1988 12:52

    The local SONY Service Center will sell repair manuals. I just got
    one for my CDP-102. It cost about $9 + COD. ( They apparently will
    not take money until the manual is delivered! A refreshing attitude.)

    The manual contains electrical schematics ( though not of the insides
    of chips ), mechanical exploded drawings, board diagrams, parts
    lists, selected waveforms, a few flow charts, and a couple adjustment
    procedures.

    The text is apparently translated from Japanese.

    There is a section of warnings about not looking into the Lasar.

    The manual would be extremely handy if you want to try your own
    repairs. It is not a how-to, and you will get nowhere if you do
    not already know a good deal about electronics and have access to
    equipment.
