1277.0. "Strawbs?" by LESLIE::LESLIE (andy `' leslie, csse (europe)) Wed Jul 20 1988 18:27

    Has anyone seen STRAWBS on CD? I'd really like to hear "Benedictus"
    from "Grave New World" with digital clarity...

    Yes, at least two of the Strawbs' albums are available on CD:
    FROM THE WITCHWOOD and JUST A COLLECTION OF ANTIQUES & CURIOS.

    The hitch is that they're only available in Japan.

    I would also be interested in purchasing Strawbs' albums on CD.
    If anyone hears of them becoming available in the USA or UK (I can
    have relatives send them) please post the information.

    BTW, does anyone know why they would be made available in Japan
    before the UK? Sounds strange to me.

    The Japanese label that owns the distribution rights for them
    apparently feels that they'll sell. There are *lots* of CD's
    available there that aren't available here. One can just as
    easily ask why some CD's are released in the UK, France, or
    Germany, but not in the US. It's what makes the import biz so
    exciting.
