1223.0. "Depeche Mode fans unite" by CGVAX2::GILLIS () Wed Jun 08 1988 11:50

    There is a Depeche Mode cd entitled "Catching up with Depeche Mode".
    Is this a compilation of their best singles over the years? I'm looking
    for a DP compilation, so if this is not the one, is one available?

    thanks!

Yes,
It is a compilation album. It contains songs through about 1986 or so.
It was s'pozed to be pretty good. There have only been a couple of
"Hit Singles" by DM since then. You might want to pick those up too.
[One from Black Celebration and RTE66/Behind the Wheel from the lastest.]

    This compilation album is OK. There's another out (as an import)
    with the same cover. Its title is The Singles: 19xx-19xx.

    The advantage of owning this disk is that it includes
    _People_are_People_.

1223.3Music for the Masses - DDD?PHAROS::WILSONHold the maya...Fri Dec 16 1988 11:4221
    I have a question for Depeche Mode fans:

    Is _Music for the Masses_ a DDD CD?

    The back side of the CD offers conflicting information: the |D|D|D|
    _and_ the disclaimer: "The music on this compact disc was originally
    recorded on analog equipment..."

    Musically, I find Depeche Mode intriguing. _Music for the Masses_
    really is just the opposite of its title. There was a single, "Strange
    Love," but most of it is definitely not mainstream.

    "Little 15," "Sacred," "The Things You Said," and "Behind the Wheel"
    are among my favorites.

    Actually, when I think about it, it's probably in my top ten favorite
    CDs of 1988. These guys really take themselves seriously as artists,
    and in my opinion they deliver the goods.
