1218.0. "QUEEN on CD?" by CASV05::COLARUSSO () Mon Jun 06 1988 10:36

Has anyone seen any releases of the group QUEEN on CD. I have been
to all the local stores and have been unable to find any. I think
this group would be great on CD especially their first two albums.

I saw an import version of "A Night at the Opera" at Manchester Compact
Disk. I wish I had bought it.

I think that all of the earlier Queen albums are only available
in the U.S. as imports, though I think I've seen the later ones
    at domestic prices.

The only ones available domestically are:

    NEWS OF THE WORLD
    THE GAME
    THE WORKS
    A KIND OF MAGIC
    GREATEST HITS
    FLASH GORDON (soundtrack)

All of the others are available as imports, but they will really
cost you. When I bought them -- QUEEN through A DAY AT THE RACES,
plus JAZZ (I don't like anything later) -- they cost me around $20
each, but I've seen some recently for about $25 each.

1218.4Where is Greatest Hits available?REGAL::KARDONScott Kardon, EPIC/INFO (spreadsheet)Tue Jun 07 1988 11:337
I saw Queen's Greatest Hits in a Strawberries a few years back.
Didn't buy it when I had the chance. Haven't seen it since.

Does anybody know where it can be purchased.

    Thanks,
    -Scott Kardon

Newbury Comics stores in Framingham, Cambridge, and Boston have
all of the Queen imports. They're $20.99. I have all but the
first two....which I'm thinking of getting.

All of Queen's albums recorded up until 1982 are now available in
the UK as "special price" CD's. Perhaps you may see a price dip
in the States for these discs soon.....

I have personally seen all of Queen's works available in Newbury
Comics in Cambridge, but I have not seen the Greatest Hits anywhere.
The others were all imports with $20 price tags, but if you must
    have the music......

I was told by the WBCN CD Hotline (1-800-CDINFO1) that Great. Hits
could be found at Tower Records in Boston/New York. Haven't gone
    there yet, but will soon.

    Power chord to you all,

    $18.99 of 20.99.

1218.9Nashua Compact Disc has them too.WONDER::STRANGEIn QuintessenceThu Sep 15 1988 16:1020
The new place in Nashua, called Nashua Compact Disc (across from
the Pheasant Lane mall), has a number of Queen CDs, and can order
any that they don't have. $19.99, though. I got Sheer Heart Attack
there a couple days ago, and am considering "A night at the opera".
I consider those the best two albums.

There are two versions of Greatest Hits. I have the US version,
which I got a couple years ago at a normal price. There is also
an EMI version from England, which has a different selection. The
English one has "Now I'm Here", which should not have been left
    off the US one.

BTW, the reason that Queen CDs are not available here is that there
is some quibbling about record labels. They used to be on Elektra
in the US. It seems that if EMI releases there stuff here, they
want to sell them at budget prices, and Queen doesn't want this.
Hence the hold-up. This is what the lady in Nashua CD told me,
    anyway.

I have all of Queen's albums on CD, they are all readily available
over here (UK). If anybody wants me to get them some and send them
over, just mail me and I think we may be able to sort something
out. JANUS::BHARRISON DTN 830 3747. The price of CD's over here
is about 10.99, I dont know what that is in dollars though.

I've seen "A day at the races" and "A nigth at the opera" and "The works"
All in the Mini-price section in FNAC (Nice, Paris,...).
That's no more than 12$. I could buy some for the desperate.
