1195.0. "Joe Jackson Live" by SWSNOD::SALLOWAY (Jeux Sans Frontiers) Tue May 17 1988 15:48

This album recently came out, and it showcases four Joe Jackson
tour bands since 1980. The sound ranges from good to very good.
There are a few of the band intros and witty remarks that cause
a live album to grow tiresome after a while.

Song selection is a little puzzling. With 22 songs, 11 on each
CD, why do we need 3 versions of 'Is She Really Going Out With Him?',
although, admittedly, they are all quite different, and labelled
as traditional, acoustic, and some other version.

Most of the songs are a lot different than the originals, so Joe
Jackson fans will get a kick out of this package. For less than
$20 for 2 CDs, it's not a bad set. There is a video released at
the same time, but it does not seem to correspond to the CD, although
I may be wrong. If anybody has seen the video, please respond here
for a comparison. The video goes for about the same price and includes
a CD single with 3 songs on it.

I have seen the Joe Jackson video. It was filmed in Tokyo,
I believe in 1986. It does not correspond with the tunes on
the CD. There are only selected songs that he does, some
are "I am the Man", "Monday Papers (renamed it), lot of stuff
from the Big World album mostly.

I do recommend seeing it because the quality is great!!! The
sound is well-done and Joe is wonderful!
