I believe I read recently that Elektra will be releasing completely
remastered versions of the first 4 Doors albums (I think that would
be up to and including "Soft Parade") real soon now. I don't remember
seeing anything about the live double album.

| I recently read in Stereo Review that Electra is planning to remaster
all 6 original Doors studio LP's for new release on CDs. There is supposed
to be an improvement over existing Doors CDs currently in the stores.
The article also stated that the 'new and improved' releases will
marked on the wrappers accordingly. Original Doors producers Bruce Botnick
and Paul Rothchild are said to be doing the remastering. I don't remember
reading anything about the double live release 'Absolutely Live'.
Previous Doors CDs have been knocked for sound quality and this
appears to be the solution.

| A DOORS double CD remastered "Greatest Hits" is available. I
have one and the sound quality really is good. Tape hiss is almost
non-existent on most tracks. Begining of "Riders On The Storm" is
rather bad with hiss, but if you pretend it's rain you will be okay.
A Vast improvement over other stuff I have heard. Try listening
to "Night Moves" by Seger some time. ARGH!

| "The Soft Parade" is out - I got a copy in Laserland in Colorado
Springs last week during a business trip. They were selling it
for $11.99 and it was not a sale.
It says "This recording has been digitally remastered from the original
master tapes for superior sound quality by Paul A. Rothchild, Bruce
Botnick, and the Doors." I agree that it's great that they got
Rothchild and Botnick involved. The quality is really very good
- excellent when compared to the previous Doors CDs - and it was
only $11.99. Hopefully this is the beginning of a trend and we
will really get all of the old Doors stuff remastered correctly.
