1176.0. "Is there comedy on CD's?" by OXMYX::POLLAK (Counting trees, in the Sahara.) Fri Apr 29 1988 10:01

Anyone seen much comedy on cd? The old Bill Cosby, George Carlin,
etc., etc. I have spotted some "weird" Al Yankovick(sp) but nothing
    else.

The Noteworthy Catalog has Monty Python (Final Rip Off - Greatest
Comedy Bits) but no Cosby or Carlin.

I have these two. "Eat or Be Eaten" was the interactive CD. The
    "Nick Danger" disc is better.

	The Firesign Theatre:

I think I just saw a listing somewhere (The Green CD Guide?) for a CD
release of Firesign Theatre's "Don't Crush That Dwarf, Hand Me The
    Pliers."

That's my favorite FT album, but I haven't listened to it in years.
A friend and I, between the two of us, knew the whole album by heart
and used to freak out co-workers who owuld wonder what kind of
recreational chemicals we were on :-)). I'll have to keep an eye
    out for it.

I seem to recall seeing Cheech and Chong on CD at Rockit records,
opposite the Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua.

I picked up Firesign's Dwarf at Lechmere in Nashua today at lunch.
Was suprised to see it's on MFSL. Have not listened to it yet.

Maybe Bozo's is on the way. BTW the booklet that came with the disk
gives a nice "story behind the story" written last year by Phil
    Austin for this CD release.

I was in Tower Records in San Mateo looking for something else
when I looked over and had a heart attack. They had a comedy bin!!!
Not much but at least now there is somewhere to home to.

    I saw:

Was "The Adventures of Nick Danger", the story "The Three
	Faces of Al" or another?

    reply .8
It was indeed the "The Three Faces of Al". Had the title confused
with another album I have. Still hoping Rhino will release ALL the
old Firesign Theater works on CD.

Well, not just Rhino. DON'T CRUSH THAT DWARF..., for example,
was released by Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs.

Jerry, after months of searching I had the luck to find "Dwarf"
in Rockit Records tonight. (Sorry, there was only 1 copy.)

    The number is MFCD 880.

Quality is pretty good, considering. I'm really pleased to find
it. Maybe Rockit will get more...

Be forewarned that this CD is only 4 tracks long, and George
does get rather political on this one. He rants and raves about Reagan
for a bit but other wise it is worth it.
