    NIGHT OF A THOUSAND CANDLES
    
    This was recommended to me by the owner of Rockit Records. I was
    buying a Pogues CD along with some others, and he said that if I
    liked The Pogues, I'd love T.M.T.C.H., as they are the same brand
    of Celtic Punk, only with better delivery. Well, I both agree and
    disagree. They are a tighter band than The Pogues, much more in
    control (which sort of belies the punk aspect, but I digress...),
    much less "raw". They also show the same enthusiasm as The Pogues,
    which is the biggest drawing card of the latter for me.
    
    Most of the material is originals, some in a pseudo-traditional
    style, some sounding more like moderate rock'n'roll. But, they
    stray off the road a couple of times to do (1) a rather nice cover
    of Bogle's "No Man's Land", (2) a rocked-up cover of Axton's
    "Greenback Dollar", and (3) an absolutely *killer* version of the
    theme from RAWHIDE.
    
    After one listening, I'd say that I don't like them as much as The
    Pogues, but who knows how that'll change with repeated listenings.
    I do recommend them.
    
    Two things should be noted. First, the guy at Rockit said that he
    heard of a second CD of T.M.T.C.H. available in Europe that he's
    trying to get a hold of. Second, the CD of NIGHT OF A THOUSAND
    CANDLES contains six(!) more tracks than the LP version. I presume
    that the other tracks come from an EP.

	The other The Men They Couldn't Hang CD is "How Green Is The
    Valley".  It's MCA DMCF 3337, not on Fiend where "Night of a 1000
    Candles" was.
    
	It's a little different than "Night of a 1000 Candles".
