1149.1 | Perhaps new Clapton anthology will help | EXIT26::STRATTON | Just Say No(tes) | Tue Apr 12 1988 20:20 | 14 |
| _Rolling Stone_ recently reviewed a four-CD (or six-record)
Eric Clapton "anthology", akin to Springsteen's live album
or Bob Dylan's _Biograph_.
I believe it's got some live material, recorded fairly
recently. Perhaps it will satisfy your need.
Also, as soon as someone sees the four-CD set for sale
somewhere, please let me (us) know.
Thanks,
Jim Stratton

| Yeah,I know about that release. Official in-store date is going
to be next Tuesday, April 19th. The only problem is, I want the
best of both worlds - the box set and the live CD!
A true Clapton fan,

1149.3 | Official Release? | PARITY::GOSSELIN | | Wed Apr 13 1988 10:14 | 11 |
| Alan, do you know for sure if the "live" Clapton CD is an official
release? I haven't seen any release data for this disc - which leads
me to suspect that this live disc was a promotional release (to
radio stations only). If you're friendly with some of the station
managers/DJ's, you may be able to get the disc for next to nothing
form them (especially stations that change their format...)

Isn't Just One Night out on CD?

1149.5 | I'll just keep looking... | HAZEL::CLARK | | Thu Apr 14 1988 09:58 | 16 |
| Yes to both questions.
This live CD is a promotional-copy only disk - that's why it is
so hard to find. Most stations only recieve one copy, and they
keep it for their library. No one said this is going to be easy!
Just one night IS out on CD, and has been for a while. It
features one of my favorite Clapton solos on "Double Trouble",
and some nice work from Albert Lee on rhythm and lead guitar.
The live King Biscuit CD features some great guitar work from
Tim Renwick (who is now on tour with Pink Floyd).
Not real optimistic, but hoping...

1149.6 | Some relatively obscure Clapton appearances | AKOV11::BOYAJIAN | Monsters from the Id | Mon Apr 25 1988 23:44 | 16 |
| Two other CD's for Clapton fans to look for:
THE LONDON HOWLIN' WOLF SESSIONS --- The legendary bluesman
recorded this in the early 70's, with a back-up band
consisting of Clapton, Bill Wyman, Charlie Watts, and Steve
Winwood. There's a priceless intro to "Little Red Rooster"
where the Wolf demonstrates to Clapton how to play slide
guitar!
FREDDIE KING (1934-1976) --- A collection of choice cuts by one
of the three Kings of Blues features Clapton on about half
of the tracks (one being "Farther Up the Road"). I just
picked this up today and haven't had a chance to listen to
it yet, but it can be had at Newbury Comics for only $7.99!

1149.7 | Crossroads...CD | VLS10::SHOREMAN | Comfortably Numb | Fri Apr 29 1988 10:25 | 13 |

Just a comment on the new Eric Clapton CD's "Crossroads". I picked
up the 4 CD set last evening. Great packaging. It has a superb
biography of Eric's career. The highs and lows....The bands...etc.
Great pictures of EC and others....Ronny Wood did the cover artwork.
The music.......5 hours of Eric Clapton....Some previously unreleased
material....Truly a GREAT set of discs.....
My favorite track......"Double Trouble"....It's a live cut.....

OK, now the obvious questions. What kind of magazine is Goldmine.
I think I've heard of it before - concerns rare and O.P. LPs, 45s,
etc.? Can it be bought in a newstand, or is it subscription only?
Any idea on how much it is? Where I can find an address?
Thanks in advance for any answers!
