I just read in the latest motor trend that the first DAK tape deck is
to appear in next years Lincoln Continental. I believe it will be
made by Sony but am not sure. That I hope would mean that units
should be available on the market for us non(never to be) lincoln
owners. Has anyone heard more?

Yes, the Lincoln player is made by Sony. Being play-only, there is
no worry about copy-code, etc.

I just read that GM is jumping on the DAT bandwagon in the 89
year, with "play-only' versions in selected models. They also
said that "due to lack of available pre-recorded tapes at introduction,
each car will come with three tapes" (generous of GM isn't it?).
I can just imagine what the 'general' is going to ask for this
new option. Maybe they'lljust package it together with some
of their other infamous options ...like their grille-mounted
laser pigeon destroyer. What, you haven't heard of that one?
