| I believe that there is a adaptor available for players unable to
track mini-c.ds. The problem you are having is not unusual.

1030.2 | Yup - you need an adapter | STAR::BIGELOW | Bruce Bigelow, DECnet-VAX | Tue Dec 29 1987 10:53 | 17 |
| .1 is right. I got the first of the Delos mini-CDs (numbered 2001)
and it came with an "adapter" that they claimed was only needed
for players with drawers. It snaps on the outside of the mini and
makes it full sized. My D-7 didn't have a drawer, so I tried to
play it without the adapter and it wouldn't play. Just for kicks,
I put the adapter on and it played fine. Without the adapter it
usually behaved as you described, but occasionally it would play
the first few (inside) tracks, but not the outside 2 tracks.
My conclusion was the the adapter was required for "mass" on my
player and that the motor had trouble keeping a steady speed without
the flywheel effect of the adapter. Since the D-7 is a portable,
it doesn't have a very macho motor. I have never had any trouble
with my mini-CD with the adapter on it.

Never mind the problem. Who is the performer ?

| Don't know a thing about the performer, but I just wanted to throw
in what I read on the package of one of the mini CD's. It claimed
that owners of portable players and certain full-sized players
manufactured in 1988 (yes, 1988), won't need the adaptor.

I have bought two of the Delos mini CDs and they both have played
fine with the adapter. I tried to play one without the adapter,
but because my "boom Box" player loads vertically, I would have
to move the whole unit to allow the cd to sit and then close the
door. Once that is done the cd plays fine no matter what position
the player is in. I think they are a great idea if they keep the
price to $4.00 or less. I would not be suprised if this size cd
becomes the new 'single'.
