1022.0. "Sony D-100 fault" by STOPIT::MASON () Tue Dec 22 1987 07:27

    I was just wondering if anybody owning Sony Portable Compact Disc
    players or any Sony equipment could help me.

    Just this weekend, after owning a D-100 portable CD player an awful
    noise sounding like somebody sand-papering a block of wood appeared
    on about four out of every five discs I tried in the machine. Playing
    the disks on my Home based CD player I found nothing with the discs
    and cleaned them before trying again. I have only had the player
    for six weeks and am very disappointed.

    Knowing from other notes in this conference that other people have
    had trouble with D-30s/D-55s etc etc. I was hoping some of you out
    there may have some ideas about the problem and give me any hints
    on how to handle Sony's repair service so I dont get robbed. As
    this is my first Sony piece of equipment and the first piece of
    Hi-fi equipment that has ever gone wrong for me any help will be
    greatly appreciated.

    						Thank you,

    						Paul.
