Where can I find a list of the CD's physical specs - size that is (diameter, thickness, tolerances, etc). Sure I can measure a CD, but I'm interested in finding the EXACT specs and tolerance required of the manufacturers. I'm interested because I'm developing an alternate storage idea for CD's (other than jewel cases, that is) and want to be accurate... -Jim

It's too late now, but it would have been nice if CD's were packaged in permanent enclosures like 3" floppy disks. They would be safer and smaller to store at the same time. Paul

Jim: You might want to contact the Storage Systems folks in Shrewsbury who are developing CDROM storage along with "jukebox" style library devices. Sorry I don't have any names for you. - JP

The CDROM specs are called out in a document called the 'yellow book', if I remember correctly. The spec is of course proprietary to Philips and given to DEC under nondisclousure. You might try contacting Chris Williams here in Shrewsbury. Chris and I worked on the RRD50, DEC's first CDROM drive back when we were working with Philips to develop CDROM. Why so exact?
