To the best of my knoledge, you should get the new Sony
D-10. It is the smallest, flattest, best (almost anything
that end with "..est"). It also have the best tracking of
all portable. In the big Apple you should be able to
get one with the battery pack for around $US215.00. You
can also buy options (like a remote) for an extra 40-50 $.
But BEWARE, as I understand you are from an other side of the
pound, your waranty will be only valid in the States,
you should contact your local Sony depot and ask if you
can buy a waranty for a foreign D-10. All portables
offer only these waranties. If you can find a D-10
that comes with international warranty, you may pay
much more $$.
If you do not want Sony, Toshiba came out with one that
looks pretty good.
In any cases avoid any players that are NOT Made in Japan.
Amuse toi bien aux tats-Unis....
Vincent.

| Buy a copy of the New York Times newspaper when you get to town
and you will find many advertisements for low-price stores.

| re:.-2 Warranty
I just bought a TECHNICS portable CD player for someone in Germany.
They will accept the warranty there on a local basis ( German law
says 90 days or 6 months, I do not remember).
The shop where she bought the 220 adaptor also took her 110 adaptor
in for cash since they needed it (may bor the american base in
Munich ;-))
SO maybe you are lucky!

| Yes, the DT-3 is a D-3 with a tuner.
