971.0. "WANTED - GERMAN BOWIE CD" by AYOV10::DROBB (Alone in the wilderness) Tue Nov 17 1987 07:50

As someone who has only recently gained access to the CD medium
(through a friend), I'm obviously still 'learning the ropes' so
    to speak.

HOWEVER, as a keen fan of David Bowie's music over the years, I
have already discovered that there is one disc which was only released
    in Germany, circa 1983 or 1984. It's a Decca/Deram compilation
of songs from the 1967-1970 period, and whilst maybe not all exactly
classic songs, I'd dearly love to own a copy.

I don't know how many of our German friends follow this notesfile,
but if ANYONE can point me in the direction of this disc, I'd be
most appreciative. BTW, I think the title is simply "DAVID BOWIE".

As an owner of the vinyl version, I wouldn't bother. It's in his
"Anthony Newley" period and is AWFUL.

Andy, I appreciate your thoughts re. the content of the CD I'm looking
for, as I have various (read : from countries all over the world)
versions of Bowie's Decca/Deram material. However, in spite of
whatever shortcomings in the man's music of the time may be represented
therein, I would still very much like to have a copy of the CD -
just to add to my collection.

PLEASE - all you Continentals out there! Can anyone help???
